Read

Hebrews 1:1-2 (NLT)
1Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. 2But now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he made the universe and everything in it.

Reflect

As a mid-level manager in a large private company, Tom hated bureaucracy. He couldn’t even talk to the owner directly. There were always gatekeepers. Then one day, the owner’s son was sent to work alongside Tom. Over time, Tom started noticing things changing. Through the son, Tom heard directly what the owner wanted done. He had an inside track to what the owner was thinking. Some of the ideas he had voiced to his managers for years were starting to be implemented. Tom realized that by talking to the owner’s son, he was bypassing the bureaucracy and communicating his ideas and concerns directly to the owner.

God also communicates to us directly through His Son Jesus. In the past, God only spoke through a small number of people – Abraham, Moses, Noah and the prophets. Their testimony was to prepare them for the coming of His Son Jesus. Through Jesus, we can communicate with God. There is no need for an intermediary.

Respond

What are some of the ways people use to listen to God?

Do you take time to listen to God? How and how often?

A major part of God’s Masterplan is to have an eternal relationship with you. You can begin this relationship with Him today by believing in Him and asking Him to become the Lord of your life. As you study Hebrews, you will continue to learn more and more about this incredible relationship with God that is yours through Jesus Christ.
