Read
8But to his Son he says, “Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. Your royal power is expressed in righteousness. 9You love what is right and hate what is wrong. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.” 10And, “Lord, in the beginning you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 11Even they will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing. 12You will roll them up like an old coat. They will fade away like old clothing. But you are always the same; you will never grow old.”
Reflect
I like to tell people how proud I am of my daughters’ accomplishments, within earshot of my children. Why do I do it? Because I want my daughters to hear how proud I am of them. I want to build them up and it isn’t as effective if I just tell them. I want them to know, that I want everyone to know how much I love them.
In our reading today, we get an idea of God’s deep respect and affection for His Son. These are awesome words, showered upon a son by his father. God is building up His Son, Jesus, in front of us all. He is telling us of his works, laying the foundation of the earth and molding the heavens, so that we will worship Jesus, just as we worship God.
