Kingdom Come - Easter Sunday

Take a few minutes today to read Matthew 28:1-20.

For Reflection:

  1. What would it have been like to see Jesus after His resurrection?
  2. Since the day Jesus rose from the dead, people have devised ways to reject the idea that He is risen. Who’s account do you believe: those who risked their lives to tell the story of His resurrection, or those who received a sum of money to deny it?
  3. In your own words, write down the Great Commission Jesus has given to all His followers?

Prayer Starters:

PPraise: Jesus, You are the risen Lord! You live to intercede for us and prepare a place for all who follow You.

RRepent: Never again do I want to deny Your power and Your resurrection.

AAsk: Give me faith to follow You, no matter the cost.

YYield: I will do my part in making disciples, sharing Your good news to all who will listen.

For Reflection:

  1. What do you think it was like for Pilate to stand face to face with Jesus prior to sentencing Him to be crucified?
  2. What do you think it was like for Simon the Cyrene to help Jesus carry His cross?
  3. What possible went through Joseph’s mind when He prepared the body of Jesus for burial in His own tomb?

Prayer Starters:

PPraise: Jesus, You are the perfect lamb of God. You are the sacrifice Who takes away the sins of the world.

RRepent: I repent of my sins and offer my life to You.

AAsk: Forgive me. Save me. May Your Spirit empower me to follow You.

YYield: I will listen when You speak to me. I will follow wherever You lead me.

Kingdom Come Week 6 - Thursday

For Reflection:

  1. Peter and Judas, two of Jesus’ disciples, both failed Him. Yet an unnamed woman anointed Him in the face of opposition. What caused the disciples to stumble and the woman to stand firm?
  2. Three times Jesus asked the Father to “take away the cup”—allow Him to avoid crucifixion—if possible. What is your reaction to reading this prayer?
  3. What blasphemy did the high priest accuse Jesus of speaking?

Prayer Starters:

PPraise: Jesus, You are the Christ, the Son of God. Thank You for sacrificing Your life for the sins of the world! There is no one like You.

RRepent: I have so often let You down. Please forgive me.

AAsk: Change me and strengthen me as I turn to You.

Kingdom Come Week 5 - Friday

Take a few minutes today to read Matthew 25:1-46.

For Reflection:

  1. The parable of the ten virgins compels us to be ready for the coming of the Lord. What are you doing to keep your lamp from going out?
  2. According to the parable of the talents, God expects us to take what He has entrusted to us and put it to use for Him. How are you doing this, and what will you do to be more effective?
  3. How can you be more attentive and more helpful to those in need?

Prayer Starters:

PPraise: Lord, You are the coming King! You rule over all creation and Your ways are just.

RRepent: Forgive me for neglecting those in need. Forgive me for hiding my talents and for using them only for selfish gain. Forgive me for letting my lamp grow dim.

AAsk: Fill me with Your Spirit, and bless my efforts to serve You and minister to others.

YYield: I will shine brightly for You. I will obey Your commands and follow the leading of Your Spirit. What would You have me do?

  1. What is your first impression as you read Jesus’ description of His second coming?
  2. As we wait for Jesus to come again, what are the various things that deceive people from putting their faith in Him?
  3. What can we do to “stand firm to the end”?

PPraise: Jesus, You are the soon coming King! You are the Savior of the world. Your words are true and they will never pass away.

RRepent: Forgive me for falling for the deceptions of the world. Forgive me for taking my eyes off of You.

AAsk: Help me stand firm.

  1. Jesus had much criticism for the religious leaders of His day. In what ways do some church leaders act like the Pharisees in the Bible?

  3. What does verse 37 say about the heart of the Messiah?

PPraise: Lord, You demand righteousness from Your people for You are righteous. You long for mercy for You are merciful. You cry out for justice for You are just.

RRepent: Forgive me for my hypocrisy. I no longer want to walk in selfishness, acting as a blind guide to those around me.

AAsk: Gather me under Your wings. Cleanse me from the inside out and make me more like You.

YYield: I humble myself before You and will follow Your leading.

  3. Jesus summarized the entire Old Testament of the Bible into two commandments. How well are you obeying them?

PPraise: Lord, You are an amazing God. Your wisdom is limitless; Your knowledge is unending.

RRepent: Forgive me for doubting and denying You. I desire to obey You always.

AAsk: Teach me to love You more, and fill me with Your Spirit that I may love my neighbors.
